What Discord allows in a custom invite link
Lowercase letters, numbers and dashes
Nothing else is allowed, so swap spaces and underscores for dashes, as in discord.gg/aurora-rp.
Up to 25 characters
That is Discord’s limit. Short names go first: two-letter links like discord.gg/gg are already in use.
Not case sensitive
discord.gg/Aurora and discord.gg/aurora open the same server, and Discord shows the link in lowercase.
Needs Boost Level 3
It takes 14 boosts. Set it in Server Settings, Boost Perks, Custom Invite Link.
Kept 30 days after boosts run out
Then Discord takes it back and anyone can claim it. The checker flags names that may be on the way out.
Needs a channel everyone can see
The link only works while @everyone can view at least one text channel, and anyone who has it can join.
Discord can also remove a custom link over abuse or an intellectual property conflict, and it refuses names it has reserved or blocked without publishing the list.

How do I check if a Discord vanity URL is available?+
Type the name you want, or paste any discord.gg link, and press Check. The checker asks Discord’s public invite API whether a server or invite answers to that code. If one does, you see which server has it, how big it is and its boost level. If nothing answers, the name is not in use and you can try to claim it.
Why did Discord reject a name this checker says is free?+
Not in use is not the same as allowed. Discord keeps names it will not hand out, such as its own brands and blocked words, and it does not publish that list. It can also refuse or remove a link over abuse or an intellectual property conflict. Discord’s own support team cannot confirm a name ahead of time either, so checking that nobody uses it is the best test there is.
How do I get a custom invite link for my server?+
Your server needs Boost Level 3, which takes 14 boosts. Then open Server Settings, choose Boost Perks, scroll to Custom Invite Link, enter the name and save. Keep at least one text channel visible to @everyone, or the link will show as invalid, and remember that anyone with the link can join.
What happens to a vanity URL when a server loses its boosts?+
Discord removes it 30 days after the server stops having the boosts for it, and the name can then be claimed by someone else. This checker flags a taken name whose server is below Level 3 and is neither Verified nor Partnered, because that name may free up soon.
Are Discord vanity URLs case sensitive?+
No. discord.gg/Aurora and discord.gg/aurora open the same server, and Discord stores and shows custom links in lowercase. The checker lowercases what you type for the same reason. Ordinary random invite codes are different: those are case sensitive.
Can I check a list of vanity names at once?+
Yes. Switch to Check a list and paste up to 25 names or links, one per line or separated by commas. They are checked one after another with a short pause so Discord does not rate limit you, and you can copy every free name in one click when it finishes.
Does this checker see the names I look up?+
